The project to regenerate the palace (the return to its former pomp).

Exposed to the ravages of time and lacking permanent inhabitants, Monserrate suffered the effects of progressive decay. Today a judicious restoration programme seeks to return the palace to its previous splendour and to dignify the 1995 UNESCO classification of Sintra, where the estate is located, as a Cultural Landscape and World Heritage Site.
