Partial reopening of the Palace Museum in China
The Palace Museum, located within the boundaries of the Forbidden City in China, was founded in 1925 after the last Chinese Emperor was forced out. From that moment on, its doors have been open to the public — with the exception of almost 100 days from January 25 to May 1, 2020, when the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China were closed due to the coronavirus.
Read the museum's statement:
"In line of the current efforts to contain the outbreak of new coronavirus pneumonia, in order to avoid cross-infection, the Palace Museum will be closed until further notice from 25 January 2020(first day of the Lunar New Year).
Admission tickets already purchased online will be fully and automatically refunded through the original methods of payment as soon as possible. Refund notice will be sent to the mobile phone number used for ticket purchase.
The Palace Museum wishes you a happy and healthy Traditional Chinese New Year!"
